Hi, i'm not sure if you've tried eating at Kong Ai Vegetarian Centrum, it's at gempesaw st. (Chinatown) located in front of the employee entrance of NCCC uyanguren, they serve decent vegetarian and vegan friendly food, well it's definitely not a gourmet place but the do have a wide variety of vegetarian dishes, the cuisine is Chinese with a bit of Filipino, the place set up is like a humble karinderia with pure vegetarian offerings turo-turo style, They do not use dairies, garlic, onion, chicken/beef/fish broth cubes or seasoning, and definitly no eggs in their food dishes, (though milk is present in their fruit shakes) I highly suggest that you ask for their menu and try the cook to order dishes if you like to have something more scrumptious. my personal favorites are the mock crispy eel, pai yeh tofu and the mock tausi fish. they also sell vegetarian frozen goods like nuggets burger patties, gluten, fish etc. if i'm not mistaken this is their number 225-5894 hope this helps

KFCs in Davao are poorly handled by their managers. The customer service is also not good. No wonder one KFC in Davao had been terminated.

@Jun - Haha, sorry about the linky. Hopefully you'll play along because I want to see your answers hehe. :)

@Harbinger - Hey thanks for visiting my site! I can't seem to check your URL (if it's right to begin with lol). Anyway, I'm already aware of the things you told me about... You know, the market quantity for hypothetical vegan restaurants. And as for the flowers, there's really no need. I'll feel like a graduate if you do it with the garlands hehehe. But thank you for the offer. :)

Am a meat eater but I love good food so I can sympathize with your predicament. I always have problems myself staging my next good gastronomic experience while in Davao because of the dearth of places where you can pig out on chow that's good as sex.

It's not only in Davao you might have problems with, but everywhere else in the country as you might be starting to notice. Specialty vegan restos are hard to come by. Good ones are rare. You might find one or two places in Manila or Cebu, but that's about it. That would make your options countable on the fingers of one plucking hand (or one fretting hand, take your pick). Running a vegan foodplace just wouldn't be as profitable as say, Kookel's where they openly display roasted animals on spits to intentionally provoke you to salivate so you'd end up forking over your starving money and buy. If your market is only 1 vegan to 100,000 meat eaters then you'd easily close shop unless you don't downgrade to a level as inferior as Evergreen just to keep things running. Okay, so I make up my stats at times, but 1 herbivore to about 100k carnivores sounds just about right.

Perhaps you and your friend should learn to befriend cooks and chefs I think. That way, you can at least always have your meals done sans the meat if you can establish some clout at the places where you'd care to have a meal and hang out. Needs a bit of contriving actually, but whoever said being selective about what you ingest is easy in the first place. Good luck on maintaining the yogic diet lifestyle!

So you can play the guitar, the piano and sing, all at the same time? Wow! I must see your act. Do make a blog entry where your next great performance would be so I can be sure to check it out. Tell me what kind of flowers you like so I can string up a big bunch of your favs as garlands so I can express my appreciation at your next gig.

I like your blog. I really do. I think.

To Tina - I think I've tried the Bigby's salad and I wonder if the salad at Grand Men Seng salad buffet is any good, hmmm.

To Jojie - God, new pages drive me crazy! Love that fresh factory smell it has bundled on itself. I also have a thing for the musty old book smell. Something about books in general: Smell, sensation and how they look. It's hard not to get OC over those things.

if you're like me who smells the pages of newly opened notebooks in ecstacy and can stare at them, flip through pages, but never want to write anything on them, then we're on the same blank page. i collect plenty of untouched notebooks (because i use my laptop for journals) for years. i don't give them away, either. :-)

i also have this OC on never putting "dog-ears" on any page of a book. it rattles me like fingernails dragged on a blackboard.
