Peeking from another window

After three and a half years of veering away from the more public blogosphere (yes, there is such a thing as a less public blogosphere), I have decided, with the help and initiative of two people who thought that I actually had something to say, to reemerge from the self-imposed hiatus I’d like to call “My life”.
Anyway, if it’s worth mentioning, my hiatus has been well worth it despite nudges from several online friends who wanted me back on the map. Truth of the matter is, I really didn’t disappear online as some of my first few visitors will attest to (because obviously, I’d have made an announcement about this in that less public blogosphere I was talking about). It feels like testing the waters again after a long time of not swimming through its currents. When I began blogging back in 2002, everything was new and everyone thought the most revolutionary thing that had ever happened to website making was Microsoft Frontpage. Sure some will disagree with me on this count, but I was too lazy to use notepad at that time. Fast-forward to today, 2006, where all my web-designing skills are but a far distant memory. Boy, have I grown old.
Speaking of old, back in the day one of my first few online friends, Abby, talked me into making this Harry Potter website with her. This is probably why I perfectly understand how and why people quarrel online at a constant basis, whether or not they’re thoroughly convinced their idol or opinion is God. Because inasmuch as I realize how true Andrew and Ria were when they told me a while ago about the existence of people who aren’t too keen at receiving my end of the discussion, quite frankly, I’m not the least bit worried about them. I’d happily take anyone’s flaming comment on anything here.
The only unfortunate part, as I’ve admitted to myself while I was guilelessly eating a cheeseburger, was that if the flaming comments were about me, I’d be terrified. Yes. Terrified. Okay, can somebody remind me why I’m talking about flaming comments? Why can’t we just talk about the Flaming Lips and this hot track from their 2002 album, Yoshimi battles the Pink Robots, Do you realize. It is the way to go when you want to morbidly torture yourself. It’s like listening to your inner masochist, especially when those haunting lines, “Do you realize that everyone you know…someday…will die”, reverb in your head. What I don’t like about it is the tacky way the music is put, which is far from their more agreeable tracks like Vaseline. This is where I thank high heavens for Beck who made a rendition of the song that I love for its utter simplicity. Beck Hansen coolly plays the guitar and sings with a distraught sounding voice that’d break anyone’s heart. It doesn’t overkill or underplay the song. Now, if only I can find that album somewhere. Somewhere…
Again, the question begs: why am I referring you to a depressing song that resonates the profound notion of our mortality? See paragraph 2, last sentence.
Hello, buy me a beer and earn a friend!

Yeah Kim, flaming sucks and can oftentimes get to you. But it’s also a sign that people are paying attention. So a bad thing can actually be a good thing. Heh.
