Some women breaking back into the music stream

My DJ friend Meeko introduced Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill acoustic album which commemorated the 10th anniversary of her 13-tracked album that once sold 30 million, and once won her a Grammy. (Who wouldn’t want to commemorate that?) It doesn’t have the same edgy and angsty tone to Alanis, but she’s 30-something now so what’s there to be angsty about eh? I’m sure the now more mature Alanis fans will love this mellower rendition of the same old songs we all knew her for. She sings Ironic, more painfully, (I promise, it sounds more ironic than the original and even the famous unplugged version) and with some slight alterations on the “Ironic” punch lines. Where was I when this was released in 2005? Y’all ought to buy this because we’re all way overdue. We miss female artists like Alanis.
And speaking of which, I miss Jewel too. What happened to her? After that suicide move (releasing her single Intuition, which I assure you tells us a lot about her intuition - a bad one), she’s gone. We miss Jewel’s contemplative and poetique songs like Hands, Foolish games, I was meant for you, etc.
Follow your heart, your intuition, she once sang. In your case honey, you oughta use your brain sometimes.
Hello, buy me a beer if you like my content!

aahhgg.. i couldn’t agree more about Jewel. i used to LOVE all her 90’s songs.. but now…waaahhh…
hmmm isnt it ironic, im listening to Jewel’s “you were meant for me …” song in the radio while reading this entry hahaha anyways, alanis released her jagged a little pill cd through Starbucks stores in an exclusive six week deal which ended last July 26, 2005. With this going on, HMV boycotted and even pulled out Alanis’ cd’s.
Finally, something I can really relate to.
I love Alanis and I look forward to hearing the commemorative CD. I especially love Ironic. What other songs are in the CD?
And I love Jewel, especially Foolish Games and You Were Meant for Me. Where is she???
Jas: Jewel really ruined it. I dunno it must be some producer who coaxed her into it. You get to think she’s much smarter than that.
Ayeza: Boycotted? That’s horrible. I wish I could still get a copy somewhere!
Ria: Actually, the songs in the album are the same songs she had with the Jagged Little Pill album. It’s just that, it’s rendered acoustically. Let’s just hope that her last “album” didn’t ruin her comfy life.
Jewel totally sold out with her last album.
“Foolish Games” is still my favorite song of hers.
I think she really messed this one up. I feel like she sold out too.
@ Dave Nogmeister - I dunno, “selling out” doesn’t have that bad a character to me as opposed to what most people think. This is still a well-produced album.
